Prof. Dr. Herman Braeckmans presented the main highlights of the new draft Code of Companies and Associations
On 16 January, Prof Dr Herman Braeckmans presented to our full team the main highlights of the new draft Code of Companies and Associations (which is planned to replace the current Belgian Companies Code later this year). Prof. Dr. Herman Braeckmans is emeritus professor of company law at the University of Antwerp, a founding member of the Belgian Center for Company Law and is closely involved in the working group established by the Minister of Justice for the elaboration of the new Code of Companies and Associations. Together with the team, he discussed the most important changes and innovations, including the introduction of the incorporation theory to determine the nationality of companies and the introduction of a limited liability company (BV/SRL) without corporate capital. More information on the planned reform can be found here.
