Luc Demeyere has extensive experience in dispute resolution in various fields of business law such as post-acquisition disputes, company disputes, business intermediaries, construction and insurance matters, professional liability of auditors. Luc practices litigation, arbitration (both as counsel and as arbitrator) and mediation in domestic and cross-border disputes. He handled arbitrations under the ICC, Cepani, Vienna, NAI, DIS rules and ad hoc arbitrations.
Luc joined contrast in 2009. He started at the Antwerp bar (1977-1980). He joined Braun Claeys Evrard Sorel in 1980, where he became a partner in 1984. This law firm merged in 1990 into Loeff Claeys Verbeke. In 2001 Luc became a partner at Allen & Overy LLP.
Luc holds a Masters degree in law from the University of Leuven (KULeuven) (1976) and an MBA from the University of Antwerp (UFSIA) (1979).
Luc has an extensive publication record in his practice areas. He is a member of the editorial board of TMD, the Dutch-Flemish Journal for Mediation and Conflict Management, and he is a member of the editorial board of b-Arbitra, the scientific arbitration journal launched by Cepani in 2013.
Luc lectured at the University of Antwerp on negotiation and mediation and at the Antwerp Bar on mediation. He is a member of the board of directors of Cepani.
