Litigation and Arbitration

In case litigation is unavoidable, contrast has a number of experienced litigators who represent clients before the Belgian courts. Luc Demeyere (with his more than 30 years of top experience in conflict management) joined contrast in 2009 and has definitely given a boost to this area of practice.
Our team handles a wide range of business litigation. Its practice covers such areas as Unfair Trade Practices, IP, distribution law and commercial disputes of a contractual nature. We have also extensive experience with M&A-related disputes and litigation involving director and auditor liability. In this respect, contrast is involved in a number of high-profile criminal and civil litigation cases both at the Belgian and international arena.
Following the decentralization of competition law, contrast has been active in competition litigation before various national and international jurisdictions. Its expertise in competition law combined with its proven experience in handling complex litigation have resulted in many major international companies turning to contrast for litigation support in the competition law field.
Several team members have national and international arbitration experience. In addition, both Luc Demeyere and Frank Wijckmans are appointed regularly to act as arbitrators in institutional and ad hoc arbitrations. Furthermore, Luc Demeyere is a member of the Board of Directors of CEPINA.
